How You Can Find a High-quality Memory Foam Mattress

When you’re looking for a memory foam mattress you might feel a little overwhelmed with all the choices that you have in front of you. Because of the increasing popularity of memory foam in a mattress form, many manufacturers have begun producing these unique products. The problem you run into, just like any other product, is that some of the products are going to be very high quality, some are going to be of medium quality, and some of them are going to be of poor and very low quality. So how are you supposed to know which manufacturer is producing a high quality foam mattress? There are a few ways to find out.

What you need from a memory foam mattress is that it should conform to the specific contours of the shape of your body and eliminate pressure points placed against the heavier parts of your frame. You shouldn’t simply go by your height or weight though, because the taller you are the more weight will be dispersed over the entire face of the mattress.

Memory foam mattresses do not require box springs to be placed underneath it to allow it to be effective. If you want the mattress to be higher off of the floor you can purchase a platform base which will raise the height of the mattress. It doesn’t matter what base you have under the mattress because the mattress should feel affectively supportive and comfortable no matter what resides underneath that. However the base you decide to put underneath the mattress does need to provide some level of support. You can test the level of the support on any foundation whether it be box spring or another type of regular box foundation is to stand on certain areas and see if there is any compression underneath you. If you find that the foundation is unsupportive instead of going out and purchasing a new one, you can add sheets of plywood to give it the support that is required.

One of the best and most telling ways about the quality of a mattress is the warranty that is provided with it. If the mattress is low quality or poorly made the warranty will be very weak and sometimes nonexistent. If the mattress is high quality the warranty should cover basic day to day wear and tear and should last, at minimum, 10 years. You can find some warranties that last as long as 20 to 25 years.

Not all foam is manufactured equally. Some companies will construct the foam mattress in United States but will purchase the memory foam itself from an overseas company. This is a practice some companies use to save money. The problem that you run into with this process is that some foam made overseas is of very low quality. There’s really no way to be sure of the compositions quality of a mattress that was made outside of the United States, Canada, or Sweden (Tempur-Pedic). Overseas manufacturers tend to make foam that flattens out when there is pressure added to it. It may feel comfortable when you first touch it but it is not the same quality. So pay close attention to where the memory foam on the mattress you are purchasing has come from. Unless it was made in United States, Canada, or from Temper-Pedic it will not last as long, the safe to sleep on, and offer the same level of support.

The Way With Baby Names

Choosing a baby name for your child is almost like choosing his identity. Ever heard about the association of a person’s name with his personality? That’s how our names really work. A name molds a person’s identity like a cookie-cutter. So, better get that best baby name for your son or daughter. Read on for some tips on how to provide that best baby name for your little angel.

1. Stop it already with the dictates of your family’s tradition. Choosing the right baby name does not have to always rely on what your elderly relatives deem to be the best baby name. It is your baby’s name, not theirs. So, better act like it. Once your baby is born he will be stuck with that baby name for life. That means it’s not wise to just settle for any baby name that will suit your grandma’s or auntie’s taste.

2. Take a look of a picture of his future. You don’t want your baby to be always called with a monicker that will forever ridicule him or will allow his playmates to make a big laughingstock out of him, right? Research about the meaning of the baby name you are eyeing to give to your baby. Don’t consider Beelzebub as a prospective baby name just because you heard it from a TV show and you find it cute. Don’t use Rodelfa just because a certain Mexican TV show’s hunky lead actor is called Rodolfo. Just plainly saying yes to your gutfeel, thinking of the people that pops into your head upon hearing somebody spout a certain name, trying to follow a fad by naming your baby a certain celebrity’s (sometimes notorious) or NOT THINKING AT ALL in giving your precious one his or her baby name are huge no-nos!

3. Consider reading the initials of the baby name you are planning to give your baby. Make sure they don’t stand for anything funny, disturbing or something utterly stupid. Christine Sue Irving? What will happen on the next episode? Alvin Stephen Stuart? He’ll surely remember not to get near any hole. Fran Ursula Catherine Klein? Uh-oh! See? Can you imagine the sickening situation you may put your child into when he or she grows up?

4. Go check your family tree once and for all. Some can’t still get away from some traditions regarding baby name decisions, especially when they have a special bond with a certain family member that they want that person’s name to be a part of their baby’s name. If your planning to still follow the tradition of putting a part of your elder relatives’ names on your baby’s name, you have to know whether anybody else in your family use that name too. You don’t want to confuse people when they’re calling a name that’s owned by two. Ask around.

5. Don’t go for the overkill. Being too creative on thinking of a baby name can backfire, I’m telling you. Examples are too unique spellings. It will be hard for the kid to keep on spelling his or her name to people who only know the common spelling of such name.

6. Decide with your partner in coming up with the best baby name for your sweet baby. It wouldn’t be nice to be always blamed when people ask who chose that awful baby name, right? Okay, kidding aside. Sharing on this kind of decision-making is a good way of furthering your bond as a couple, not to mention the possibility of coming up with a better baby name. Remember that the “two heads are better than one” thought also applies to dealing with the troubles of finding the most suitable baby name for your baby.

Sound, appeasing relatives and friends and avoiding embarrassing initials and discovery of disgusting meanings are some of the major concerns that should be considered in your quest for the perfect baby name. You might find them a bit taxing. But in the long run, you’ll see that doing your homework will make your baby thank you when the right time comes. Happy baby naming!

Choosing The Right Baby Bottle For Your Baby

Having children is definitely an adventure. Making the right choice in a bottle for your bundle of joy will help make all the difference in the world.

No one said that having a baby was easy. We all know that they do not come with instructions. If they did our jobs as parents would be much easier. Whether you choose to breast feed or go completely with bottles, you will still need to help your baby choose what style of bottle that will suite him or her best.

When choosing the right bottle, there are many things that you will want to consider. You will want to do a bit of research first so you can make the best educated guess and so that you know the different styles and brands of nipples. You will want your baby to be comfortable with the choice of nipple and make sure it is the right flow for the age of your baby. There are wide nipples with the short flat nipples and then there are the NUK ones that mimic a mother’s nipple. Your child will let you know which one they prefer as they will generally spit out the ones that they do not like.

One of the first things you will want to pick out would be weather or not to use plastic or glass bottles. Glass bottles are just that, made out of glass. Plastic bottles offer a bit more choice as you can choose to use the plastic liners. They have been proven time and time again to cut back on the amount of air that a baby takes in. As parents, we all know that, cutting back on the air that a baby takes in at feeding time is a good thing as they take on less air. This means that they will have fewer gas problems in the long run where feeding is concerned.

There are other options to get the best flow for the baby if you do not want to go with the liners. You can choose to use the angled bottles or the ones with automatic burpers installed in them to help keep the air to a minimum. If you do not like washing bottles, you can opt for the disposable bottles or if you prefer to save money then you will want to go with the reusable ones.

There are many brands on the market today and most offer many styles to choose from. Avent bottles are tailored for breast feeding moms that have to use bottles occasionally and the bottles can be attached directly to the breast pump for easy storage. Playtex and Gerber offer similar products with a wide variety of designs and styles. Second Nature is also a good choice for babies who go between breast and bottle as the nipples allow the baby to control the flow, making the experience much like they have with their mothers breast.

Let your baby be your guide as to which bottle and nipple you should go with, after all your baby is the one who will be the one using the bottle.

Designer Diaper Bags Versus Generic

Remember the good old days when diaper bags were simple and cheap? Well those days have gone away, now the hit is designer diaper bags. With such designer names as Eddie Bauer, Holly Aiken, Caden Lane, JP Lizzy, and Tommy Hilfiger and that’s not all that’s available.

So what do these bags offer that a normal Winnie the Pooh diaper bag from Wal-Mart doesn’t? Let’s look at a Tommy Hilfiger diaper bag that is a backpack style. It’s striped and made of microfiber, three baby bottles can fit on the side, front zip pocket, interior zip pocket, plus a changing pad, and a removable bottle holder. The website it was found on had it priced at only $66, which isn’t that much surprisingly.

Ok so if we looked at Tommy Hilfiger let’s look at what a Wal-Mart bag would cost. In all fairness to a comparison we pulled up another backpack model on the site and surprisingly the price difference was not much at all, the bag on Wal-Mart was $59.98. Wow it’s easy to see why a person would want to go with a named diaper bag if the prices are so close!

What about the choices and styles that are offered? There are smaller diaper bags with designer names on them, and medium sized also. You have all different shapes and colors of bags available too. It seems that it’s not as hard to fit a designer diaper back into your budget when preparing for your coming precious little one!

There are even Jeep brand diaper bags out there. I guess for those people who love their Jeeps and want to show it this would be a great choice! There are not as many choices as far as style or color, but if you’re just looking for the Jeep name who really cares.

What about Eddie Bauer, they have some very beautiful looking nursery sets so why not get a diaper bag from them to top off the whole theme? You have several styles including a very nice backpack style and the price ranges where from $29.98 to $49.98. Very decent prices again.

Of course you need to keep in mind it depends on where you go shopping for your very own designer diaper bag, some places are a bit more expensive in that they charge you for that name on the bag, but you can also find them very decent prices as you can tell from this article.

The Baby Shower Gift Dilemma – Create a Handmade Quilt

Have you been searching for just the right baby shower gift for your best friend, your sister, or maybe even a colleague from the office?  No matter where you have looked, the idea of finding another outfit that the new baby will outgrow in weeks, or another pile of odds-and –ends from diapers to rattles is just not what you had in mind for a useful and meaningful baby shower gift, then this article is for you.   Create a handmade baby crib quilt that will amaze the new mother-to-be and all of the guests at the baby shower.   

You don’t have to be an expert quilter to make a special handmade baby crib quilt.  First, you need to choose the perfect fabric for the baby crib quilt.  If you’re unsure of what design you might prefer, either take a trip to your local fabric store, or go on line to the one of the many retail dealers for their collections of ideas and baby crib quilt patterns.  If this is your first attempt at the art of quilting, it is best to keep your pattern simple. Choose colors that are appropriate for the baby’s gender, unless you do not know that, than yellow or white is a safe choice.  Be sure you wash and lightly iron all fabrics before you start to cut.

                There are many sewing tips that quilting experts would pass on to a novice, who may just be starting out, possibly making their first quilt.  Here are some important quilting tips:  Sew seams carefully, so that you match each corner and every triangle tip is pointy.  You can save time and increase accuracy by chain sewing your pieces together.   Your piecing will improve if you take the time to press your quilt blocks as you make them.  Pressing is an extra step in the quilt making process , but one that will payoff  when your block fit together, nest, just like they should.  Make sure that you are sewing an accurate quarter inch seam allowance for your quilt blocks.   If this allowance is not precise, when it is time to sew the blocks together, they will not align properly.   Set your sewing machine to the standard seam allowance used for quilts, which is an exact quarter inch seam.  One way to improve a block that is either too large or too small is to use the freezer paper method and square up the block before sewing it together.   Gridded freezer paper makes the job easier, but the plain freezer paper will work to help make the block more even.             

At this point you are ready to either hand quilt or machine quilt your baby shower gift.  Place the backing fabric right side down on the floor or large clean area. Put the batting down next. Place the pieced quilt on top of the batting right side up. Pin the fabrics and batting together starting from the center and working out.  I recommend that you stretch all three layers before pinning. Using an old table and some large butterfly clamps, stretch your blanket securely in place to the table before you pin the layers together. Also there are curved quilting pins available at the quilt shops that will make the pinning task easier to complete, due to the shape of the pin. They are rounded at the bottom and perfect for the task.    

You can either hand quilt or machine quilt your baby shower gift. Following the perimeter of the shape or you can choose to use a quilter’s pencil and template and draw a design and quilt the design.    Either way, you will be stitching through all three layers, which not only fasten the layers together, but create a design, as you quilt.

Your baby shower gift will be complete when the edges are finished and the binding is sewn in place. Of the two types of bindings, crosswise grain and bias,  the former is a good choice because there is less risk that a split would damage the entire side of the quilt.  Crosswise strips also stretch well enough to curve when needed along the outer edge of the quilt.

Your search and dilemma is now over.  You have the perfect shower gift, a handmade baby crib quilt, which is the perfect baby shower gift for that new mother-to-be, created by you.

The Elvis Presley comeback special was the top-rated television special of 1968, and most experts and fans agree it not only revitalized his career, it sealed his destiny as becoming a larger-than-life, almost mythical performer for the entire world. But there’s a great story behind the Elvis Presley comeback.

When talk of the comeback special in Elvis’ camp surfaced, he confessed he was nervous about playing live; after all, he hadn’t played a live concert in 7 years since he played in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on March 25, 1961! However, a short while after rehearsals began for the show a more confident Elvis Presley told his producer Bob Finkel he wanted to show the world what he could do.

And do, he did! The Elvis Presley Comeback Special was filmed over the course of five hours on June 27, 1968 in front of two separate audiences at NBC Burbank Studios, with a one hour break in between so Elvis could shower and have his black leather suit designed by Bill Belew dry cleaned.

Originally, Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker wanted the show to be a Christmas special complete with Christmas carols, but the chosen director, Steve Binder, saw this as an opportunity to re-establish Elvis Presley’s dwindling career. Steve Binder’s visionary personality played a large role in Elvis Presley’s ultimate success!

On December 3, 1968 the Elvis Presley Comeback Special aired, it became an amazing success, and it went down as one of the top moments in entertainment television history. Soon after, the slim Elvis Presley was in high demand and on his way to his legendary Las Vegas performances. He spent most of the next eight years on the road with his band. Some experts say the Elvis Presley Comeback Special revived his career in 1968, but that ironically, it also marked the beginning of the end of his life. Elvis died doing what he loved and he knew his fans loved him. Days before he passed away he said he was looking forward to to his greatest concert tour ever.

For many Elvis Presley fans, one of the most memorable moments deeply etched in their minds is watching a slim, incredibly handsome man walk onto the stage in 1968 wearing that famous black leather suit, and giving his fans “his all” as he had always done.

Diaper Rash and Thrush – What is the Connection?

Thrush in babies is typically known as a condition presenting on the infant’s tongue or in his mouth, but it can also result in a coinciding diaper rash. An irritable baby who has both white spots in the mouth and a severe diaper rash is likely suffering from a candida albicans overgrowth in her system, otherwise known as oral thrush or a yeast infection.

While candida is normally a healthy bacteria with a purpose in the intestinal flora, mouth, and mucous membranes, it can overgrow when the immune system is suppressed. In the case of newborn babies, their immune systems are not yet fully developed and the yeast is sometimes allowed to multiply.

Mothers who take antibiotics during pregnancy or babies who receive antibiotics soon after birth may be even more susceptible to thrush in their bodies, and it can be passed on to each other through breastfeeding. Although the antibiotics do their job by killing the bad bacteria, they can also destroy the good bacteria, which protect the body.

Detecting the early symptoms is the best way to catch and cure thrush in babies, including the related diaper rash. Common symptoms for a diaper rash caused by candida albicans include:

· A dark red rash with scaling and lacerations.

· A rash that is most prominent in groin and buttocks creases, where bacteria and yeast are most likely to grow.

· Small red dots surrounding the larger patches of red.

· Typically the border of the rash is defined.

Although a baby may suffer diaper rashes for reasons other than thrush, such as various types of dermatitis or bacteria, if the diaper rash is accompanied by oral thrush, it is likely candida albicans-related.

You can detect oral thrush by examining the mouth. The condition appears as a whitish, milk curd-like coating on the tongue and/or areas of the mouth. Although it may look like milk in the mouth, the patches cannot be easily washed away and they are often surrounded by red tissue. Additionally, a baby with oral thrush may experience difficulty sucking or eating.

If you believe your child’s diaper rash is the result of thrush, you should contact your doctor. He or she will likely prescribe an ointment to cure the infection. To assist in healing and along with the doctor’s instructions, you may need to wash the infant’s diaper area with very mild soap or just warm water, making sure to gently rinse and dry thoroughly. Finish by applying the ointment and washing your hands.

Most infants will be able to continue attending childcare while healing from a thrush diaper rash. Although it may appear severe, the proper medical treatment and prescriptions will have the child rash-free as soon as possible.
