Hemp oil has long been recognised as one of the most versatile and beneficial substances known to man. Derived from hemp seeds (a member of the achene family of fruits) it has been regarded as a superfood due to its high essential fatty acid content and the unique ratio of omega3 to omega6 and gamma linolenic acid (GLA) – 2:5:1.
It is this ratio that is believed to be optimal in terms of improving skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne.
It has been reported that those using hemp oil as a supplement begin to experience noticably softer skin, stronger nails and thicker, smoother hair after only a few weeks.
The oil is approximately 57% linoleic (LA) and 19% linolenic (LNA) acids, the EFAs known as omega6 and omega3 respectively. EFAs are the building blocks of the fatty acids known as eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which are of course associated with the health benefits as noted above, alongside their benefits to almost every cell in the body and are widely accepted as beneficial in warding off and treating degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Hemp oil is also the only food oil that contains not only omega3, omega6, but also GLA. This GLA content means that hemp is a rival to Evening Primrose Oil as well as flazx seed oil, as GLA is the main EFA that is believed to relieve symptoms of pre-menstrual tension (PMT).
Hemp oil is also ideal for those who are concerned about taking fish supplements due to the reported contamination of fish with mercury and other toxins. This is particularly prevalent for pregnant women and nursing mothers who are looking to reduce their fish intake but still maintain a desired level of EFAs.
Hemp Seeds
EFAs can also be obtained from eating hemp seeds. These seeds also pack a significant protein punch, which rivals that of soy. Hemp seeds contain many essential amino acids, have high fibre content and are also rich in Vitamin E, Vitamin C and chlorophyll.
The added benefit of hemp seeds is that there has been no known genetic modification of hemp plants, unlike with other sources of protein and antioxidants.
Hemp also grows in such a way that no pesticides or chemicals are required to grow the crops. The growing of hemp plants creates almost zero waste and the byproducts of these crops are also useful in other commercial applications.
Hemp Oil Preparation
As with all essential fatty acids, hemp oil must not be heated or fried and it is very succeptable to heat and light. The oil is extracted from the seed by a slowly rotating press. The pressure from this press squeezes the oil from the seed and leaves only the remaining ‘seed-cake’. This is always done in an oxygen-free environment, as exposure to oxygen can rapidly depreciate the quality of the oil.
Always ensure that your oils are prepared in such a way (i.e. without excessive heat, light and oxygen) and always store hemp oil in the refrigerator, use quickly, and never heat.
Is it Illegal?
In short, no. The Latin name Cannabis sativa actually translates as ‘useful hemp’!
The confusion and concern often arises due to the fact that hemp seed/oil is derived from the plant Cannabis sativa, which is often incorrectly linked to the psychoactive substance, marijuana. The psychoactive ingredient of marijuana is the chemical THC, however the quantities of THC in hemp oil are so small that they are regarded as insignificant. In fact, for commercial hemp oil products to comply with Government regulations, they must contain less than 10ppm THC, which is very, very little. However, in the majority of products absolutely none can be detected. It would be almost impossible for this level of THC intake to measure even close to illegal levels during a drug urine test.
Although the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced a worldwide ban on the sale of all hemp based foods and oils in 2001, this decision was condemned as illegal in 2004 following a successful appeal to the Ninth US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Fransisco.

A retaining wall is a protective structure, first and foremost. It should be strongly built for steady support. But it can also serve as a decorative architectural element. It is this mix of beauty and functionality which any home addition should strive for.
While of course it is possible to hire a contractor to build something like this, there really is no reason as you can do this home project yourself and it will not take as long as you think and also it will save quite a few dollars when simple home additions are done on your own.
All one needs is a little drive and determination and make a plan and then stick to it. Before you know it your retaining wall will be built and you’ll be full of confidence looking for the next home project.
The first thing to do is excavate the area where we plan to put up the retaining wall. If the area is downhill, be sure to grade the soil. Drive stakes of wood into the slope and stretch across them a masonry twine.
For the base trench, dig a ditch on the higher side of the wall. Fill the ditch of our retaining wall with different colored stones and then level using a rake. Have the stones compacted together with the use of a tamper.
For the first course, we place the first base of concrete over the stones for our retaining wall. To make sure the concrete is even on all sides use a torpedo level. Continue putting concrete while leveling out stones. Wear safety gloves.
When cutting the initial block into halves (for stronger grip and vertical joints placeholders) do so with the block of each even-numbered row. Use a sledgehammer for the purpose along with a brick chisel. This is for a stronger retaining wall.
With the second course-after cutting the initial block of even-numbered rows-put the second row. Step back each block just a bit off to make sure we are making a slight backward slope to somewhat push the thing that needs support. This is what a retaining wall is for.
Then, as the wall rises, compress the earth behind it. As we fill the rear portion with earth reinforce the wall with concrete the higher it goes. Between the wall and the earth fill should be more cement mixes to increase retaining wall material strength.
For our final grading, the higher the wall goes the farther the slope is from the wall top. Fill the gap with crushed stones topped with earth. The fill level should be some inches below the wall top.
When building the retaining wall alone, opt for interlocking blocks. Take care to refill the ditch or trench right after the base or footing or foundation layer is done.
Retaining walls are best for keeping slopes like small hills or mounds beside our houses from landsliding. They’re perfect for garden landscaping and even for buttressing wall portions of our houses. Retaining wall concepts are also applied for chimney building.
Building a retaining wall helps keep our surrounding safe and supported. It keeps a steeply sloping terrain from collapsing.

Ben 10 is a contemporary American cartoon series made and aired by Cartoon Network. The Ben 10 series started in December 2005. It was followed by Ben 10: Alien Force in April of 2008, and succeeded by Ben 10: Evolutions.
The series focuses on a boy named Ben Tennyson, who is empowered with various superhuman and alien powers. He fights alongside benign aliens against the spreading of a sinister force, manifesting in the series’ different villains. The Ben 10 franchise has resulted in the manufacture of various toys and other paraphernalia, with Ben 10 costumes among them.
You can get the initial version of the young Ben 10’s costume on the Internet in kids’ sizes. This outfit comprises a white short-sleeved t-shirt with black collar and sleeve piping, a vertical black stripe down the middle of the shirt, and a Ben 10 logo on the upper left part of the garment. It also includes an accessory: the Ben 10 Omnitrix device, which you can don as you would a wristwatch. The Omnitrix allows ben 10 to control his different powers and communicate with his teammates. Pair the Ben 10 shirt and Omnitrix with white sneakers and a dark gray pair of long cargo pants to channel Ben 10 in his first incarnation.
You can also play Ben 10’s fearsome alien comrade, Heatblast, in a costume that will strike fear in the hearts of evildoers. The Ben 10 Heatblast costume is available for kids to young adults. The outfit includes a full body suit and plastic mask. The mask captures the visage of Heatblast in action, with a deep maroon skull-like face surrounded by yellow and white ‘flames’. The bodysuit comes in the same deep red color, and is bisected by jagged white/yellow stripes at the arms, knees, chest, collar, and crotch area. Heatblast’s circular insignia sits at the center of the chest, just like in the cartoon.
Older fans of the cartoon may want to dress up as Ben 10 from Ben 10: Alien Force. The Ben 10: Alien Force version of the costume includes a jumpsuit, a jacket, and a more sophisticated version of the Omnitrix device. The light green long-sleeved jacket has white accents and striping on the right bicep, and a large vertical stripe on the left chest, with the number 10 on a black circular patch ob the upper left side of the jacket. The bodysuit simulates Ben’s signature black shirt and navy blue pants. Pair it with black sneakers and a downturned hairdo for the Alien Force look.

When it comes to having an upset child, some new parents believe in self soothing while other parents use the help of a pacifier.
